I know there has been some talk about getting a team together for the tough mudder run, so I wanted to post their website again and see if it would spark some interest.  The event takes place October 9th in Bear Valley. (This is considered their Northern California race location).  I think we could put together a couple of pretty competitive teams to challenge that mountain.  Hopefully someone will step up to organize things (read:  I’m not :-) ).  Click here for more event details: the toughest one day endurance race on the planet – Tough Mudder

Gy also informed me of another mud run put on by Merrell and it comes right to Sacramento on Halloween.  The Down and Dirty Mud Run takes place October 31st, 2010, at Folsom Lake Recreation Area.-CN

  1. I’m definitely interested in one of those mud runs. I did one down at Camp Lejeune with the Marines and it was awesome. I’m going to check out each of the websites to see which looks good.

    Who else is interested?

  3. Thanks Ant, I forgot to add that one. Post the website if you have it.

Irish-I’m not a very strong runner but at least I’m better than GyGy! I would be interested in giving it a try.

  6. They need to change the name of “chest slapping push ups”. Those sound horrible.

  7. Looks like fun!! Im down to do the one in Folsom for sure. I would love to do the one in Bear Valley but we would need to get a serious team together. Its 140 per person and with lodging and everything it may get pretty expensive for some. Let me know what you guys think.

  8. Ok, I checked out the 3 sites I saw listed and I threw together a google doc that collects all the info:

    https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AQ5aveu4M6ryZGc2Zjhrc3NfMjM1Z2N3dDhzZ3g&hl=en

Anyone can edit this document, so people can list their preferences/comments there so it’s all in one place. If you can out anything else about each of the runs, feel free to update the doc as well.

  10. Warriordash.com is the wedsite, also Trev, Allen and I are interested in doing the tough mudder, but that all depends on who wants to do, either way we are down for whatever.

  11. Cool. Links to each of the runs are in the google doc:

I’m leaning towards the though mudder as well. how can you resist running thru a blazing kerosene-soaked straw fire?

There is a $5 discount if we get 6-10 people, $10 discount if we get 11+. Not a huge savings but it will pay for a few beers.

  13. How many on the team already? Can we bump it to 11?

Posted by Irish Sean | June 8, 2010, 9:15 pm
  14. I have 3 on my team so far, maybe 2 or 3 more coming. We can bump it up, but it looks like we don’t get a discount!

Maybe ARC should start a separate team if you are going to have over 6 people. We can hook up at the starting line. Our start time is 2:00PM.

Can the size of the team be changed?

This is quite possible, and we can gladly accommodate changes in team size. However, this must be done by contacting Active.com, as they handle our registration inquiries. Please note that teams which decrease their member size from 11+ teammates to 6-10 teammates will be required to pay an additional $5 per member, and teams falling in member size to 5 or below must pay an additional $10 per member. These fees must be paid at the registration desk on the day of the event. Also, previously registered participants belonging to teams which are increasing their member size are not eligible for a refund/price break, but new team members will qualify for the upgraded discount.

  15. Sounds like fun, but we’ll be on our honeymoon! :)

  16. Sounds like we need to get a firm commitment from arcfitters before we join or create a team.

    Who is in?

Chad, I’m out of town starting tomorrow, could you put a note on the board asking people to email me at seanhorgan@gmail.com ?
