Besides the obvious wheat bread and the high sugar content jelly, peanut butter is also a no-no on the Paleo diet.  Why is that you ask?  Read The Peanut Manifesto from Whole 9 for all of the gory details.

  1. I’ll vouch for the awesomeness of sunbutter as a peanut butter replacement. Having a nut allergic kid we go through about 5 jars a month and I don’t think we could ever go back to pb even without allergies.

  2. Is it cheaper than almond butter?

  7. Kat, that was fun! Thanks for partnering with me. It was definitely warm in the box, good thing that fan was close by.

As for the butter discussion, I’m an almond butter convert, but haven’t tried sunbutter yet.

  8. Sunbutter has sugar in it. Bad. Why? Try Trader Joe’s almond butter with flax seeds. It’s about a dollar a jar cheaper and the flax content helps to balance out the high omega-6 content of the almond butter. It’s good with sliced apples or with flatten bananas.

  9. Our TJ was out of the flaxseed version for a while, but they brought it back, though it got more expensive so is now the same price as the regular almond butter. But it is definitely very tasty.
